Baobab (Adansonia digitata), Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana
Impressive in death as well as life, the carcass of Chapman’s Baobab lies splayed and shattered. At over a thousand years old, it toppled in January 2016 and was both one of the three largest trees in Africa and a national monument of Botswana.
