Dani tribesmen in ceremonial adornment, Grand Valley, Papua, Indonesia<br />
Perhaps the oldest continuous farming society in the world, the Dani are an extremely successful agricultural people.  They have resisted pressure to accept modern dress, instead wearing distinctive penis gourds, boars tusks and elaborate feathered headdresses.  They are famous for their ritual warfare, but I despite their ferocious appearance I found them to be some of the most pleasant people I have ever photographed.
